A Letter to Lee Moor

To the Lee & Beulah Moor Home,

I wasn’t sure where to send this thank-you note.

I just wanted to say that me, my older brother, and older sister lived at this great home from January to May of 1962. That February I turned 10 years old. I am the youngest of seven.

I still tell people about my time at the Moor home. It was good. I had my first dentist appointment, my first suit, and a bed to myself. I had clothes for every day of the week and two pairs of shoes. Wow, I even got an allowance of 35 cents a week in a little manila envelope!

The Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home supports children and families who are experiencing difficulty in their lives—for whatever reason—by providing a nurturing, positive environment and teaching self-respect, respect for others, and the importance of taking responsibility for one’s own decisions and actions.

We provide a full range of services for children and families in the El Paso area, including:

• Foster care
• Adoption placement and referrals
• Unplanned pregnancy counseling services
• Life-skills training
• Educational, social, and cultural enrichment activities
• Recreational and adventure opportunities.
• Transitional Living Program
